Following the Hyperbridge security incident, certain assets deployed or bridged through Hyperbridge were affected. In response, Bifrost immediately suspended all Hyperbridge-related cross-chain services, revoked Hyperbridge's access to mint and burn vTokens, and closed all associated cross-chain channels to prevent further risk.
After a comprehensive review, we have decided to stop using Hyperbridge service.
As Hyperbridge is being retired. To preserve the value of assets held by affected users, Bifrost will carry out an asset recovery plan through on-chain governance.
An on-chain snapshot will be taken at the block height corresponding to 15 July 2026, 06:00 UTC. The snapshot is the sole basis for recovery and distribution.

What you should do
Special case: vDOT on Base
The exploit caused an abnormal issuance of vDOT on Base. To protect legitimate holders, vDOT on Base will be snapshotted at block 44634398, the block immediately before the incident, rather than at the 15 July block height.
After the snapshot, recovery transactions will be executed through on-chain governance and multisig.

The recovery process is entirely non-custodial.
Bifrost will never request your private key, seed phrase, or wallet credentials. Every recovery transaction will be executed transparently through governance or multisig and can be verified on-chain.
A registration-based claim channel is planned for August 2026, allowing holders to move the value of their vETH and vMANTA to Ethereum.
Step 1: Register your receiving address. Sign a recovery registration remark from your own Bifrost account, in the format:
hyperbridge-evm:<your Ethereum receiving address>
One-click support for this remark will be added to the Bifrost Dapp.
Step 2: Governance reissuance. Based on your registration, governance burns your corresponding assets on Bifrost and issues the equivalent amount on Ethereum to the address you registered, based on the actual amount burned.
A note on vMANTA. Manta Network has sunset its staking program, and network staking rewards stopped on 20 May 2026. vMANTA therefore no longer accrues staking yield, and Bifrost has adjusted accordingly. The claim channel above is how vMANTA holders realise the value of their position. Your funds remain yours throughout, and the registration process is the same as for vETH.
